Welcome to Heron House Luxury Bed and Breakfast

Come and enjoy a luxury holiday in Devon in our award-winning B & B in the heart of Bampton, Devon. Heron House is a pretty 18th Century stone built village house, offering luxury adult only accommodation for the discerning traveler. Bampton, which dates back to 700 AD is nestled in the foothills of Exmoor National Park on the Devon and Somerset border and 5.5 miles from the delightful village of Dulverton and all its associations with the story of Lorna Doone.

We have 3 gorgeous bedrooms to offer our guests all with comfortable beds and luxurious bedding. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen Freeview TV, hairdryers, tea and fresh coffee making facilities, a tin of biscuits, fresh milk is provided daily, free Wifi and ironing facilities upon request. Our award-winning breakfasts are included when you book your room direct with us and is cooked to order at a time to suit you and served in our dining room around our large communal table.

Each of our three guest rooms have their own unique character and I strive to make them feel more like a guest bedroom at a friends house than a B & B room. An eclectic mix of one-off finds, inherited pieces and artwork together with layers of pattern and colour all add to the sense of comfort.

The beautiful North and South Devon coasts with their fabulous beaches and stunning scenery are 40 minutes away in either direction. Exeter with its impressive Cathedral and ancient architecture is easily accessible via the M5, or following the A396 along the Exe valley, which is our preferred route. The surrounding countryside is well known for its hunting, shooting and fishing together with some excellent golf courses, and is hugely popular with walkers and cyclists. Cycle route 3 goes past our front door.

Whether you are a city couple in need of a countryside fix or a business person in need of sanctuary after a long day, guests can unwind on a comfy sofa in the sitting room before strolling down the road to one of Bampton's terrific pubs for a delicious dinner, all within easy walking distance. There is free car parking in front of the house on Brook Street, or opposite us in the Village Hall car park where a donation of 50p is required. Heron House also welcomes smaller well-behaved dogs.

Treat your 'Other Half'' to a couple of nights away to sample a little of what Devon has to offer....wonderful food and great hospitality! Come and stay anytime during the week, but bear in mind that pubs and restaurants are not always open on Sunday or Monday evenings. Perhaps have supper here on the night of your arrival and then have a wonderful Three Course Dinner at the Michelin Starred Masons Arms in Knowstone, just ten miles from Bampton, a taxi there and back.is included, but not drinks or Service.
